Nothing compares to a gift that is from the Heart. But when it is also hand-made, it's like the icing on the cake! I love it when I have the opportunity to make a quilt for someone. (I admit, this doesn't happen near enough!) This little bundle found a new home with a wonderful family who has gone above and beyond for my little family. I wish that I could make a quilt for all the angels in our lives. I have the fabric...I just need to find the time.
On a similar subject, I was wondering if there is anyone that knows of a foundation or cause that would be in need of some quilts? I've been looking at my stash/collection feeling like it could be put to better use. Any suggestions?

Actually there is a group that sends handmade blankets to wounded soldiers; the group is Soldiers Angels and their website is:
http://soldiersangels.org/index.php?page=blankets-of-hope
When you hear the soldiers stories of what those quilts mean to them it makes every stitch worth while!

Our quilt guild is in the middle of a two year commitment to Quilts of Valor which may be similar to Soldiers Angels mentioned by Jenn.
Their website is http://qovf.org.
I'm sure one of these organizations would LOVE your quilts.

There's a cool organization called Project Night Night (http://www.projectnightnight.org/index.html) that gives items to homeless children to offer them a sense of security. It's on my mind for 2009.

We're looking for folks to help make small quilts (think 2' X 1') for new babies in Uganda. It's a new project, the webpage is being set up but you can see our other work at the main site: www.hopeaid.org. Love your blog, the quilt you made is beautiful! I am sure the family will enjoy it!

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep sometimes needs items like quilts and clothing to photograph babies in. This is an organization that has touched our hearts. We have been donating to them, ever since. http://www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org/

i love the quilt you made. i'm sure it will be very appreciated. i would recommend project linus as well. they collect them at my local quilt shop, so i don't need to ship them anywhere, which is a plus in my book. :)

I love handmade items. They are so special.
You could always hold an auction and donate the proceeds to your favorite charity.

there are so many worthy "causes" that would love to have handmade items... i second the hospital idea... it was some comfort for us when our son spent 2 weeks in the PICU to have something that was "unhospital-ly" that someone lovingly made...they also told me how they never get anything for the older children/teenagers only for babies...and how much it means for the older ones to receive something special.

Your quilts are amazing. Your fabric combinations are great. My husband has a nonn-profit organization called The Second Chance of Utah Foundation. He is doing a silent auction to earn money for a scholarship. One of your quilts would be much apprecited if that is something you would consider.
Thanks for your consideration
