Raspberry Jam and FREEBIE!

So, this week I decided I needed a new project! As if I don't have a million other projects, I got it in my mind that I wanted to make raspberry freezer jam. For those of you who have not made it before, I am here to give you the challenge.  It was so much fun to do! I cleared my whole day and it was nothing but a sticky, tasty, sugary adventure that I shared with little Lily.

I love homemade jam! In fact, I pretty much love anything homemade. There was something about all of my jars of jam lined up perfectly on the counter top that gave me a sense of accomplishment--along with the need for a nap. The color of raspberry jam is so bright and inviting, much like the fabrics we love!  I made this apron from michaelmillerfabrics.com and www.freespiritfabric.com Fabrics. Fun, Family, Fabric and Freebie

Hello, My name is Lanie and I have so much to tell you!!  I feel like it would take me forever to share all the things that make me happy and define who I am, so I will just share a few thoughts that have been on my mind lately.

It has been so Fun working with Jane.  She is full of talent and personality.  She has been showing me the ropes, and getting me acquainted with this new adventure.  I really look up to her and admire her for wanting to spend more time with her children and husband.  The part of our lives when we are raising our little ones, seems to pass so quickly!  She has her priorities strait!!

My Family is wonderful, as you will see once we get to know each other better.  I have three beautiful granddaughters that are starting Kindergarten in a few days, and we have been sewing up a frenzy trying to get them ready.  We have been using the Fabrics that we sell in our shop and it has been so Fun!!  I want to introduce to you "Lily."  This little dress was made with a "Pink Fig" pattern, "the Mia top."  The Fabric is "Tina Givens'," Annabelle and Cloe's Imagination, from "Free Spirit."

Absence makes the heart grow fonder?

I know, I have been Missing In Action for a while. I hope everyone has been enjoying the summer. Ours is nearly over and I find myself torn between wanting extra time to spend with my kids in our daily relaxed summer routine and the structure and activities that accompany school which I have to be honest, includes more free-time for me (that I would really enjoy about now) I have found myself caught in a huge tug-a-war for the last year, trying to balance the responsibilities of a Mother, Wife, and a Business Owner. Finding that no matter how many all-nighters and how fast I ran I couldn't do everything. I have this darling sign that rests on one of my fabric shelves that has taken on a whole new meaning.

 There are so many things that I never anticipated when I started this "little" hobby. I figured that I could design, build and update a website, cut, package, send, buy, and market all in my free-time. I know, it all sounds a little crazy looking back at it. I feel like I have spent all of my time just trying to keep up and never getting to the things I "really love".

I was driving home from the post office with my 5 year old when out of the blue he said "Hey Mom? If I help you sell all of your fabric, will you just be a Mom again?" That was my wake up call. And so...I"m so excited to introduce you to 'Lanie'. Whom you will have the pleasure of meeting soon. I know you're going to love her. Without giving too much away...she is a fabulous seamstress and has 2 darling girls who also share her passion for the fabric industry.

Who knows, with Lanie in the picture I just may be able to try my hand at some design work! And most of all, "just be a Mom again".
